By the end of Grade 8, the learner will apply tactics and strategies to modified game play; demonstrate fundamental movement skills in a variety of contexts; design and implement a health-enhancing fitness program; participate in self-selected physical activity; cooperate with and encourage classmates; accept individual differences and demonstrate inclusive behaviors; and engage in physical activity for enjoyment and self-expression. Each year activities will be modified as students developmentally progress throughout grades 6-8.

As students progress from grades 6-8 in health the topics covered will be explored in more depth depending on developmental appropriateness. Topics such as self-esteem, goal setting, decision making, bullying, substance abuse/addiction, nutrition, physical fitness, stress management, interpersonal relationships, self-harm, online safety, eating disorders, body image, and sexually transmitted diseases are covered throughout grades 6-8. The skills that are woven throughout grades 6-8 health education include: Advocating for their own personal health and safety Demonstrating refusal skills Creating adopting, or improving a personal health goal Demonstrating positive coping skills Demonstrating effective interpersonal communication skills
